Ayurveda massage
Rooted in the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, this massage therapy goes beyond relaxation — it aims to restore harmony between body, mind, and spirit. By working with the three fundamental energies, or doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha — Ayurvedic massage supports the natural balance unique to each individual, promoting deep healing and inner equilibrium.
VATA
In the concept of Ayurveda, Vata is one of the doshas, or functions of the physical body. It consists of the primary elements of air and ether and is responsible for any movement and peristalsis in the body, including the movement of cytoplasm, blood, lymph, movement in joints, muscles, peristalsis in the lower parts of the intestines, and transmission of impulses in nerve fibers.
Ayurvedic body massage is particularly beneficial for Vata individuals, making them grounded at the level of consciousness conducive to life. Medicinal oils soothe dry skin, enlarge the earth’s elements, and boost resistance to negative external influences, including radiation.
PITTA
The first thing you notice about Pitta-dominant people is their clarity and radiance. As a rule, these are people of medium height, with medium-sized eyes and a penetrating gaze; they are also muscular and eager for action. These individuals stand out, with their skin always bright and sensitive.
Pitta-type people prefer a strong massage abhyanga with cooling oils, such as rose and sandalwood. They often spend time in nature, like to play sports in the open air, and prefer to work in a bright and well-ventilated room.
KAPHA
Kapha is a type of dosha that supports the body’s resistance to negative factors and is also responsible for nutrition and lubrication. People with dominant Kapha are considered to be thoughtful, calm, and resistant to stress. To maintain balance, these individuals must perform special exercises and drink a lot of liquid. Since Kapha is responsible for the growth of the body, it is necessary to ensure that there is no dosha deficiency.
To reach balance, individuals with a dominant Kapha dosha are recommended to practice Trataka meditation. The practice is very simple and accessible even to those who have never encountered Ayurveda. You need to sit in a comfortable position, turn off the light, and look at the flame of a lit candle until tears appear, bringing in the flowing energy.
Pitta (Fire water)
Pitta combines two key elements – water and fire, which are necessary for the proper functioning of all parts of the body associated with metabolic processes.
As a rule, these individuals do not like to overheat, so a cool, windy, dry climate is a perfect choice for them. On top of that, it is quite beneficial to stay close to water or the areas with lush greenery nearby.
Vata (Ether-Air)
Vata is made of air and ether elements. Air is the burst of activity that sets up the ripple, ether is the space in between. Together they dance like a whirlwind.
Because of this energy combination, Vata people thrive in a warm, humid climate, preferably near an ocean, pool, lake, or river so that the heat does not become oppressive. The majority of them love the sunny weather.
Kapha (Earth-Water)
Kapha comprises water and earth, creating the structures that correspond to the cellular structure of the organs of our body, as well as the fluids that nourish and protect them. In human physiology, kapha is responsible for connectivity of all elements in a single entity.
Kapha-type people feel most comfortable in dry, warm, even slightly hot climates. They cannot tolerate heavy, damp weather.
Benefits of Ayurvedic Massage
Ayurvedic body massage is not merely relaxation; it is a therapeutic procedure performed on either the entire body or specific areas. The choice of the area depends on the goal. It is your abhyanga massage practitioner who will help you select one or another procedure after examining and identifying your health concerns.
Women would appreciate ayurvedic abhyanga massage for a brilliant opportunity to get rid of stress, rejuvenate, improve the condition of the skin and hair, and become slimmer. Men would be attracted by the relaxing aspects, which work on deep muscle tension and healing. There are no notable discrepancies between women’s and men’s massages, except the force of pressure applied.
